Have there ever been any studies done to connect the diagnosis of mononucleosis and type 1 diabetes?

Answer:

No direct link has been established (to my knowledge) but, along with many other infections, mononucleosis (glandular fever) may be the straw that broke the camel’s back and be the illness that precipitates the appearance of diabetes that was coming anyway.
