Blood Tests and Insulin Injections, Daily Care

Question from Columbia, South Carolina, USA:

How can I persuade my 11 year old to rotate insulin injection sites?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Site rotation is very important in maintaining long term good health with type 1 diabetes. When insulin is injected in the same sites, the skin and tissue under the skin become less able to absorb insulin and you can get unsightly lumps of damaged skin and tissue.I would encourage you to continue to use that reason as the primary one for your pre-teen and use positive reinforcement to help them rotate sites appropriately.
