Question from a grandparent in Little Rock, Arkansas, USA:

How dangerous is the West Nile virus for a child with diabetes on insulin?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

We have no idea; the virus seems to be less harmful in children and young adults, but there are no data on diabetes. Standard advice applies: Stay inside at dawn and dusk; wear repellent when outside; check the yard for standing water. Beyond that I wouldn’t worry too much.
