Question from Cambridge, Ontario, Canada:

I am 33 years old, I have had hypoglycemia since the age 20 which the doctors think is changing to diabetes, and my seven year old daughter has very high levels of urine protein. Her family doctor thinks it is related to her kidneys. Could she have hypoglycemia or diabetes? Would it cause this kind of protein?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

The urinary protein isn’t likely diabetes.. She needs a referral to a pediatric nephrologist to find out more.
