Question from California:

I am currently in the process to adopt a sibling group from Latvia. The girl, who is 11 has type 1 diabetes. I am looking to find where I get educated and training on how to care for a child with this type of diabetes. Is there any online class where I can get any type of certification as proof of training, that I can submit to Latvia?

The University of California, San Francisco, has many online documents you may find helpful, at:

https://dtc.ucsf.edu/learning-library/resource-materials/

Also, Dr. Peter Chase’s book, Understanding Diabetes, can also be found online at:

http://www.ucdenver.edu/academics/colleges/medicalschool/centers/BarbaraDavis/OnlineBooks/Pages/UnderstandingDiabetes.aspx

We are unaware of any programs that provide a certificate to prove you have received education. You should consider contacting your local children’s hospital to see if they know of any educational programs that might be beneficial.
