Question from Vancouver, Washington, USA:
I am in my 40s, have had type 2 diabetes for six years, and since starting insulin a year ago, I have gained 20 pounds. I seem to want to eat more often, even when I am not hungry. What effect does insulin have on my increased weight? Why is it more difficulty to control my urge to eat?
Insulin is an anabolic hormone that can make you more hungry resulting in unwanted weight gain. Please see What is insulin?.
