Question from Havre de Grace, Maryland, USA:

I have diabetes, and I decided to check my childrens’ blood sugars. My 20 month old has consistently had high blood sugars for the past three days. Is this a cause for concern? Is it normal for a baby that age to run high sugars? She is only 20 months old; can you have diabetes that young?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Diabetes can be present in any age group. If her blood sugars are running high, you need to discuss that with her pediatrician.
