Question from Rockford, Illinois, USA:

I have had type 2 diabetes for a little over a year, and I recently began taking Lipitor [a medication for increased cholesterol levels], but my blood sugar numbers have been much higher. Is Lipitor known to increase blood sugar numbers?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

I treat a lot of patients who have type 2 diabetes with the combination you are asking about, and I do not see worsening blood sugar control with Lipitor. This is true whether it is taken along with insulin or oral hypoglycemic agents.
