Question from San Luis Obispo, California, USA:

I have three children with type 1: a 16-year-old diagnosed at the age of nine months, a 13-year-old diagnosed at age 12, and a 10-year-old diagnosed at age three. There is no history of diabetes on either side of our family. Do you know of any research studies, ongoing or not, about multiple children being diagnosed?

I am not familiar with any but you might want to search the JDRF and the NIDDK (National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive Kidney Diseases) web sites.
