Blood Tests and Insulin Injections

Question from Salem, Oregon, USA:

I just bought a FreeStyle meter and am very satisfied with it. Later, I saw a meter advertised that will test on thighs, chest, and abdomen. Can I do that with my FreeStyle as well?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

I am sure that you could use the FreeStyle on other sites, but the flexor aspect of the forearm is still the most convenient. You should check the sample size on the other meter because, with bigger samples, you can get bruising.

Additional comments from Dr. Larry Deeb:

As I understand it the meters were only tested on the forearm. Therefore, the FDA only allows the companies to advertise sites actually tested. I am not aware that any site other than the forearm is approved for testing.
