Question from Coventry, United Kingdom:
If I stop my insulin, what will happen?
Answer:
From: DTeam Staff
If you have type 1 diabetes and stop taking your insulin, you will become seriously ill and develop DKA [diabetic ketoacidosis]. The timing will vary, but some people can develop DKA in 18 to 24 hours. DKA is a very serious condition which is better prevented rather than having to treat it. Stopping insulin is not recommended.
