Question from Illinois, USA:

Is there any documentation of the use of brewers yeast, chromium picolinate or pyruvate to stabilize blood glucose levels in type 1? Do you know of any benefits/side effects of their use? My daughter is 4 years old; is there an age limit on the use of these supplements?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

There is absolutely no scientific data to support the use of chromium in type 1 patients. In fact, the data on type 2 patients is very spotty and mostly based upon laboratory animals not humans. More recent studies suggest some mild benefit for type 2 patients in China but more studies are clearly needed before any recommendations can be made.
