Question from Maryland, USA:

My 15 year old daughter, who has had type1 diabetes for a year, has always had a slight acne problem, but since she was diagnosed, her acne on her back has become severe. What causes this? What can we do to help it?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Often the cause of the acne is puberty, with all the various hormones being released. Occasionally, if your daughter has put on a lot more weight then this might result in her body producing more of the hormones that can cause or aggravate acne. It is worth talking it over with your doctor.
