Question from Boston, Massachusetts, USA:

My 76 year old mom has type 2 diabetes and wants to cream her feet to prevent calluses but then cannot bandage and tape her toes when needed because it won’t stick to the creamed area. Any suggestions?

Answer:

A practical solution to your question about the cream is to cream most of the foot and leave an area untreated for the tape to stick to. This can then be wrapped with another loose bandage to keep the bandage in place. Be careful to look every day for evidence of infection.
