Question from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA:

My boyfriend’s daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes right after she was born. She is almost four years old now. Will she have more health problems than other children due to being born with it?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

I don’t believe she should be at “more” risk than a child diagnosed in the first five years of life. I would suggest working hard throughout her life to maintain good diabetes control. Keep up the hard work!
