Honeymoon

Question from Iowa, USA:

My daughter is 5 1/2 and was diagnosed when she was 2. She weighs 43 pounds. My understanding is that, based on her weight, she should be using an average of 20 units of insulin a day. She doesn’t even use 10, and we have to make 1/4 unit adjustments. Is it possible that she can still be honeymooning after 3 years? If not, why should she be using so little insulin?

Yes, it is possible that your child may still be in a partial honeymoon for 3 years.
