Question from Hoffmanest, Illinois, USA:

My eight year old son has had type 1 diabetes for about 10 months. Is there a video explaining the importance of exercise and showing what exercises are good for children with diabetes?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Children with diabetes, just like children without, benefit from all types of activities and sports participation. Active playtime should certainly be encouraged. Although not specifically an exercise video, It’s Time To Learn About Diabetes is a video on diabetes for children based on a book by Jean Betschart, MN, RN, CDE. It addresses all aspects of diabetes management, including exercise and activity. The educational information is presented by two children who also have diabetes. For more information on the video or workbook contact Chronimed Publishing at 1-800-848-2793.
