Question from Decherd, Tennessee, USA:
My five year old son has recently been diagnosed with type1 diabetes. I have heard rumors about new medicines so he will not have to have shots. Is there any truth to this?
I am not aware of any medical treatment that will be able to replace insulin for the treatment of type 1 diabetes. However, You may be thinking of inhaled or oral insulin or islet transplantation.
