My seven year old son was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age three, and I have read that the cause of diabetes is not known, but that there are several suspect triggers including the order in which immunizations are received. I note that my other son who does not have not diabetes received fewer immunizations and in a different order. Is the order in which immunizations are received, and the amount of immunizations received, still being studied as a trigger? Is there any study or research group I can write to with my information in order that they can review it and consider or discard it in their research?

The supposed relation between type 1A (autoimmune) diabetes and immunisations which was primarily advocated by a Dr Classen has really been discounted as based on faulty interpretation of other people’s data. The subject was evaluated in considerable detail some years ago by the Public Health authorities in New Zealand after some data from Christchurch was misquoted. The same conclusion has been reached by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Communicable Disease Center in Atlanta, and so far, it is confirmed in the national DAISY study.
