Question from the United Kingdom:

My sister is 17 weeks pregnant with her second child, and she has sugar in her urine. There is no diabetes in our family, and there was no such problem during her first pregnancy either. Could you comment on the situation and give us some advice?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Pregnant women frequently have some sugar in their urine. This does not always mean they have diabetes. Her doctor will be testing for diabetes between 24 and 28 weeks unless there is additional reasons to do it earlier.
