Question from Peterborough, New Hampshire, USA:

Our son has had type 1 for three and a half years. He has recently started complaining of stomachaches, a sore throat and severe hiccups after eating (even snacks). Could he have acid reflux or some other stomach problem? Could this be related to his diabetes?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

I doubt that the stomachache, sore throat and hiccups are related to his diabetes. He certainly can have GERD (gastroesophageal reflux) or another stomach problem that could be contributing to the symptoms you’ve seen. I would suggest reviewing his symptoms with your pediatrician.
