My 16-year-old son had been using Lantus as his basal insulin for three years. He has good control with an A1c of 7.8. He was complaining about the sting with the injection, so his endocrinologist switched him to Levemir. He is much happier about the injection since there is no sting. However, his morning numbers are high. He gets the Levemir injection in the morning. Is Levemir as long lasting as Lantus for type 1 diabetes? Or, are we looking at two injections in a 24 hour period?
