Insulin

Question from New Jersey, USA:

My son weighs 16.6 kilograms and his TDD (Total Daily Dose) is 13.05 units. According to the doctor, his TDD should not exceed 12.3 units. His blood glucose average over the last 3 weeks is 175. I would like to bring this down, but more insulin is not the answer. Should I increase his exercise regimen? Sometimes he is just not very active.

The insulin dose is only an estimate, not a hard and fast rule. I would give more insulin and bring the glucose down. Just be sure you’re not missing lows.
