Question from Springfield, Virginia, USA:

What other forms of cleaning agents are recommended for cleaning the finger(s) prior to a blood sugar check? I am looking for something that does not affect the blood sugar number. Examples: all natural wipes, antibacterial wipes, etc. We are avoiding alcohol wipes since they cause thickening of the skin.

Answer:

Any product that does not contain alcohol should be just fine. Alcohol dries the skin. The important point is to let the product dry fully or it will affect the glucose test results.
