Question from San Diego, California, USA:

What is the target fasting blood glucose level for a type 1 or type 2 diabetic? I know what the diagnosis levels are but, what should it be once you have diabetes and working to manage it?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

Targets are less than 120 mg/dl [6.7 mmol/L] before meals and less than 140 mg/dl [7.8 mmol/L] two hours after you start eating each meal. The A1c, a measure of your average blood sugar for the past two months, should be less than 6.5 %
