Question from India:

Which cooking oil is best for those suffering with diabetes and obesity: sunflower, soybean, or corn?

Answer:

From: DTeam Staff

The three oils that you mentioned contain a majority of polyunsaturated fats. A better choice than the three you mentioned would be olive oil, peanut oil, or canola oil. The reason these are better types of fat is that these are primarily monounsaturated fats, which tend to be better choices for fat because they tend to lower blood cholesterol levels and decrease your LDL (bad cholesterol levels). Inspect food labels to look for more monounsaturated, less saturated fats when choosing fats.
