My daughter is 9 and is currently taking 7 units of Regular and 15 units of NPH per day. I am wondering if your body builds up a tolerance toward any of these two insulins, or any type of insulin.

My 7 year old son was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes 6 months ago. He has been having blood glucose readings running in the 300’s for about 2 months and the more insulin I give him the higher it seems to go. Can too much insulin cause the high blood glucose readings?

My 3 year old son was diagnosed a little over 2 years ago. Since beginning the Humulin about 6 months ago, from time to time he goes through periods where we are able to completely eliminate the Humulin shot for 3-4 days at a time. Does the Humulin build up in a person’s body over time?

A friend has an 8 year old boy diagnosed with type 1 diabetes within the last year. They are having great trouble bringing down his blood sugar levels even with large amounts of insulin. It appears that he is resistant to insulin delivered by subcutaneous injection but that IV injections of insulin are effective.

Our daughter, aged 5 years, has had type 1 diabetes since she was 2 1/2. The insulin injections sting her quite a lot. Also she gets risen red areas on the injection sites that take a few days to return to normal. Have you ever come across this?

My 14 year old son is a freshman in high school. He averages about 10 units of Humalog and 22 units of NPH before breakfast, and 4 units of Humalog before dinner. He eats around 70 to 75 grams of carbohydrate with each meal. Why does he require so much more Humalog before breakfast than he does before dinner?

I have a 15 year old that was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes about 3 months ago. He is on Humalog and Lente. He has continuously been running highs all the time. His doctor suggested that we try NPH instead of Lente before breakfast. If this works, will we notice a change in his blood sugars right away, or will it take a few days?
