At my doctor’s suggestion, I started taking Protophane at night and have been increasing the dosage to try to lower my blood sugars. I saw no lower numbers, so I tried a new vial of insulin and still saw no improvement. Why doesn’t the insulin seem to be working?

My sons were having low pre-breakfast blood sugars so we switched their NPH from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Our doctor does not feel they need middle of the night blood sugar checks unless we are changing their NPH doses. Is this okay?
