We are considering a move to Bangkok, Thailand for two to four years, but we are concerned about our daughter’s health since she has type 1 diabetes, but we would only consider moving if it did not jeopardize our daughter’s health. What would your recommendations be regarding health care for our daughter in Thailand at this time ?

My 14 year old son, who is on twice daily premixed insulin, is going on a four day canoe trip in a couple of weeks. I am thinking he will probably be going low a lot of the time from the exercise so I was wondering if we should be lowering his doses of insulin. If we lower the dose, would we leave the carbs the same?

At the beach last year, my son invariably went high when I checked him at bedtime, although his numbers were fine during the day. I always put his pump back on for boluses but did not always to make up missed basals. Was this because the pump was on and off during the day? Could it have been sand in the insertion site? What should I do to prevent it this year?

My son plans to visit the United States for five to six months, and his pump infusion sets are going to be a problem because they don’t want to give him enough for the visit. I have tried to find where to purchase the sets (and to find out how much they cost), but have not been successful.

We are travelling to California in the fall to visit several amusement parks, and my brother uses an insulin pump. Is it safe to wear his insulin pump on extreme roller coasters? Does he need to disconnect it because of the rapid drops, inversions and great g-forces? Can he wear the pump on the airplane?

I recently went on a trip, left my ACE inhibitors at home by mistake, and couldn’t take them for about six days. I just got home and started them again yesterday. Is this dangerous? Is it bad for my kidneys, heart, body to not take them for a week then start back up? Should I have eased back into taking them (like take a half a pill for a few days)?

I take have started using disposable insulin pens and travel frequently for work (sometimes for weeks at a time). Do you know if the prescription laws for pen needles are the same as for syringes? I know the laws vary by State for syringes, but is there a formal “listing” so I could know before I travel.
