I was 17 years old a junior in high school and off school for Thanksgiving break when I became dehydrated and going to the bathroom a ton. My mom had old school glucose test strips that required you to use a drop of blood and then compare the color to a scale. The meter said I was in the 400s and I was a diabetic. In 25 years there has been ups and downs. Now finally at a point where my A1C is in low 6s, high 5s thanks to CGM plus pump. There’s been some damage done, but I’m thankful for the time I’ve had, my wife, and my daughter.
