My fifth grade teacher noticed I was using the restroom often so she sent a note home to my mom and off to the doctor I went. Shortly after, the doctor called my mom to let her know she needed to take me to the ER because I had type 1 diabetes. I spent a couple of weeks in a pediatric hospital with the BEST doctors/staff. Now, I am almost 30 years old and have an A1C of 6.5, which is amazing because I am almost 100% self managed.
