My personal journey with Type 1 started at the age of the 16 but that was just a launch pad for what was going to become 20 plus years of working in the diabetes field. Shortly after diagnosis I felt called to turn my pain into purpose by becoming a diabetes educator. I have enjoyed working with children, families and adults through the years as they navigate this winding path and sometimes awful terrain. Although I wish diabetes away many days, I have found a way to turn the difficult parts into helping others and for that, I am grateful for the lessons I have learned.
