Diane Nielson
When I was diagnosed at age 14, I remember my doctor saying “Hang in there they will have a cure soon.” I have now passed my 42nd year of being a diabetic and enjoy the benefits of a pump and CGM (a big improvement from pig and cow insulin and multiple injections a day). Even though I still hope for a cure I have enjoyed a full life and have never let the fact that I am a diabetic stop me from doing the things I love. Of course everything we do as diabetics takes extra planning, but I found that staying active and having good family and friends has helped me stay positive and happy.
