Before going through the process of potty training, we noticed Dominic was thirsty often and going through diapers quickly. After a few online searches, we contacted our pediatrician to confirm what we already thought was happening. Although there were lots of tears and frustration in the beginning as a family we adjusted. We believe kid first, diabetes second. Dominic doesn’t let diabetes get in the way. This year he’ll be going into 7th grade and taking accelerated math. He’s on the soccer, track, and cross-country team. He also plays the double bass and has taught himself how to play the keyboard. He’s an animal lover and an all-around great kid. Although not all days are perfect days, we’ve come a long way from those early days.
