Eli was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was three years old. I began to notice symptoms but the main symptoms were excessive thirst and frequent urination. My sister also has type 1 so I was familiar with the symptoms. We checked his blood sugar with my sisters meter and it read 567. I immediately put him into the car and took him to Childrens Hospital. It was a holiday weekend so we ended up being there for almost a week before we got to go home. The road has been long and rarely easy but he maintains a positive attitude and is thriving.
