From his mom, Melodi:
When our son George was diagnosed with type one, he was only five years old. His diagnosis and the months that followed were very traumatic for him. He has had to work through feelings of anxiety and repercussions from PTSD. He has had many challenges, but he has faced them with strength and courage. A few years ago, we started a support group for other families with children with type one. George is now a mentor to many and he serves as a counselor at a camp for children with type 1. In his own words, he will say that having this disease has been difficult, but it has only made him stronger. We love that he has taken his struggles to the Lord, and has allowed the Lord to turn them into something beautiful!
