Being diagnosed as a teen was scary and overwhelming. As a teen, Jeffrey was already filled with a world of emotions, hormones, and confusion but the diagnosis of T1 was the icing on the cake, or so we thought. Being in DKA and sicker than ever resulted in three scary long nights in the hospital with pokes and prods and what seemed like another language as the medical staff spoke to us. The day he was released from the hospital he made a promise to us and himself to not let T1 hold him back. He went from the hospital to the baseball diamond that day. His diagnosis has taught all of our family and friends how to appreciate each and every day and good moment. T1 is a rollercoaster and has some sneaky curves, drops, and rises but together we battle it and conquer together.
