Jennifer Lunny
From her daughter, Kristen:
Our mother, Jennifer, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at just seven years old. She had an army of support, spearheaded by a devoted mother, Lynn. When she got older and became independent, my mother became steadfast in maintaining control of her diabetes rather than having it control her. She was an early adopter of the insulin pump (1999) and of the Dexcom CGM. She has never let diabetes limit her. She has never used it as an excuse. She has maintained an active lifestyle and taken diligent care of herself. Most admirably, our mom has never complained, even though she has every right to do so–after all, type 1 diabetes means you live a “no days off” lifestyle. Our mom is patient with herself and resilient and upbeat when discussing diabetes, even as recently she has begun to feel the impact of 54 years of type 1 diabetes. She is a quiet inspiration to so many around her. We are blessed to have her as our mother.
