Jordan Embry

I was diagnosed at 7 years old with type 1 diabetes. I was young but knew I had a fight ahead of me. In my teenage years I and my A1c suffered as I rebelled against diabetes and everything with it. I was also told that because of the diabetes that I would never have a child or be able to work to physical of a job. Now 25 years later (that feels crazy to say) I have an eight year old and I’m a firefighter paramedic. I am not perfect and my blood sugar still does what it wants some days but I try to use it as a motivator to prove that I can do anything I so choose. This medal will be a recognition of the fact that diabetes can’t hold me down and I’ve had a life despite it!
