I’ve had type 1 diabetes since I was five years old and am now 35, so it’s been quite the journey. I started out as the first in my family to be diagnosed, and have since had two kids. My daughter was diagnosed two months before her second birthday, so we’re in this together. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions, and it’s exhausting being on it 24/7 with both of us, but I’m so grateful to have had the experience to take care of someone with type 1. My family are huge supporters of us and have been there for me since day one of my diagnosis. I could never thank them enough.
