I was diagnosed at 5 years old and now looking back on all I’ve already accomplished while having diabetes is incredible. I did so many sports growing up from soccer where my dad would run along the side lines with a juice box in hand to prevent a low to playing water polo and being awarded all conference my senior year. I graduated college from a 4 year program where I lived away from home for the entirety of my collegiate education, got married, have grown my career, bought a condo, obtained my MBA, and had my first child. I’ve seen the evolution for diabetes technology which is certainly something am I thankful for and has allowed me to live my life to its fullest!
I say all of this to remind any parent or child with diabetes that while life may look a little different than others, it doesn’t have to hold you back. You can do anything and everything someone else does who doesn’t have diabetes!
