In 2015, I had just finished pre-school, diabetes free during the year, however by the end my teacher noticed me sleeping, using the bathroom, and drinking more. My mom wanted to give me a little time before taking me to the doc because she hoped it was just growth or temporary illness. Fast forward to the summer less than a month before a trip to Florida/family/Disney my grandma noticed a fruity smell and my mom took me to my pediatrician, who checked my BG and found that they couldn’t read my bg. After driving to the hospital my blood sugar was found to be over 1000, and stayed there for multiple days, the family in Florida came to me instead. Fast forward even more I got an insulin pump and cgm quickly, and found I wanted to be a endocrinologist. I later started jiu-jitsu and am now the first type one diabetic teenager who placed third at PANS IBJJF and have an Instagram dedicated to all week training with T1D.
