I didn’t have a traumatic diagnosis. In fact, it was very ANTI-climatic. I was drinking a lot of water and never seemed full, and just had my 7th birthday (October 15). My Dad, an RN, had my blood sugar checked and it was 175. Off to the hospital we went for a couple weeks. I remember really wanting to get out on Thanksgiving Day, and I did! Back then, we didn’t know about CGMs or insulin pumps. I had burn out quite a bit as a child/teen/young adult, but then I learned about Dexcom and t:slim in 2015, and my life changed! My A1C went from 12.6 to 6.3 in 3 months! I can’t imagine life without my computer pancreas now! I’m now in year 25 of my journey, and it hasn’t stopped me from doing anything!
