When diagnosed, my life expectancy was just 32 years. I’ve doubled that now along with four kids and three grandkids. I have been lucky, with only a few complications, such as diabetic retinopathy. I didn’t know how lucky I was until my wife, who became type 2 diabetic just a few years ago, has had her kidneys shut down. I was told from very young that could happen to me, along with eyes, circulation, and all the other ill effects, but most have never happened. And now with the CGM and insulin pump from Medtronic I’ve been using for 10 years, I’m hoping they never do.
