I’m grateful that I’ve been on this journey as it has taught me things about myself and what I’m capable of achieving with my body. I appreciate the recognition that diabetes is a journey.

When I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, it forced me to grow up faster than most kids. Throughout the years, I kept a positive attitude and outlook throughout my journey with diabetes which hasn’t always been easy. Even with the hurdles diabetes presents, I’ve been able to manage my sugars, my exercise, my weight, and my health for over 25 years while still raising a beautiful family and finding success with work.

I remember being a little girl and thinking that someday I’d be able to achieve this medal of having T1D for 25 years, and I promised myself that I wouldn’t give up hope.

I’m fortunate for the support of family and friends who are a big reason I’ve had so much success. I’m proof that you can have a healthy and happy life with T1D.
