I celebrate every single year on my diagnosis day that I have make it another year and so far, with no complications. There are so many things I could be angry about having this disease as it has become a consideration in literally every aspect of my life, but I choose to focus on the positives. The most positive thing, hands-down, has been finding a unique, chosen family with many people I grew up going to diabetes camp, with that have become my best friends, my confidants, and my circle who really gets all of it. There are so many other positives as I see how much people care about me when they have diet soda at their parties, or when they pack a snack when we go outdoors, just in case I go low, or when they save nutrition information so I can properly bolus. I’ve even had friends who want to try a pump site or a shot! Diabetes really has changed every single aspect of my life, but it’s not all bad. Cheers to 25 years!
