I was diagnosed rather young. I remember my oldest sister Peggy was a diabetic, diagnosed at three so I was familiar and had a person to share until she passed at the age of 49 from diabetic complications. When I was around 10 my doctor told me I wouldn’t live to see my 20s but here I am and I thank Jesus, my savior, for the healthy diabetic I am today. I’ve had a few complications but I have had treatments that are keeping me healthy. To think back in the 1970s, I was peeing on a stick and now I have a CGM and insulin pump I am so very thankful. My only son is also a type 1 diabetic. We are in the attached picture.
