Gluten-Free Apple Crisp

Base
- 4 cups peeled sliced apples(use your favorite, or a variety – Granny Smith, gala, Braeburn, honey crisp)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
Crisp
- 1 cup gluten-free rolled oats
- ½ cup almond flour
- ¼ cup chopped pecans
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ cup melted butter (can substitute margarine or coconut oil)
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- dash salt
Set oven to 375°.
In a large bowl, mix together sliced peeled apples with lemon juice, cinnamon, and maple syrup.
Add apple mixture to a 9x9 baking dish, spread out into one even layer.
To prepare the crisp topping, melt butter in the microwave. In a bowl, combine oats, almond flour, pecans, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt. Pour melted butter and maple syrup over oat mixture. Combine well until clumps form.
Add crisp topping blend onto apples in an even layer.
Bake for 30 minutes or until crisp starts to brown.
Serve warm on its own or top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
Storage: store covered in the fridge for up to 3 days.
