My son, age 9, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes several months ago. He had some lab work done this morning for a CBC only. What is the doctor looking for and what can a CBC tell us about my son’s diabetes?

A CBC [complete blood count] is for infections and other reasons: anemia, iron, etc. It’s not diabetes related.
