Blood Tests and Insulin Injections
Question from California, USA:
I have a 3 year old daughter who was diagnosed 1.5 years ago. We were using a meter, but were told that the machine is inconsistent so we now use a different machine (which is awesome). Have you heard information on the reliability of meters?
Answer:
There are many excellent blood glucose meters available.
All blood glucose meters on the market must meet the same FDA-mandated requirements for accuracy. These guidelines allow home blood glucose meters to be somewhat less accurate than laboratory testing, but home meters are sufficiently accurate for managing diabetes.
Choose a meter based on the features that are important to you (e.g., size, speed of test results, memories, computer connection).
